Revelation and Education:
Revelation is the symbol, and symbolization is itself education. In the language, "to teach something" means to mark or signal it so that it becomes clear. As Allah says: "The Most Merciful (1) Taught the Qur'an (2)" [Ar-Rahman 1-2]; meaning, He placed within it signs of His mercy and indications.
Similarly, in Allah's statement: "And thus We have revealed to you a spirit of Our command. You did not know what is the Book or what is faith, but We made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, you guide to a straight path (52)" [Ash-Shura 52], He revealed to him, meaning He taught him and spoke to him through signals and symbols.
Also: "He said, 'My Lord, make for me a sign.' He said, 'Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, being sound (10).' So he came out to his people from the sanctuary and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] morning and evening (11)" [Maryam 10-11]. The sign here is the indication pointing to something, and as we mentioned, revelation consists of a collection of symbols and signs in letters and words that indicate divine meanings. These meanings make your prayer true, and He revealed to them, meaning He signaled and symbolized to them to teach them. Revelation can come from within or from outside.
True Insight and the Insight of the Dajjal:
After explaining the meaning of revelation, we can now distinguish between true revelation, which comes from God, and false revelation from the Dajjal. Allah Almighty says: "And the heart of Moses' mother became empty; she was about to disclose [the matter] had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers" [Al-Qasas 10], and also from verse 7 of Surah Al-Qasas: "And We revealed to Moses' mother." These two verses prove that the insight from God is what connects the heart with faith in Him, unlike the insight of the Dajjal and his sign in Surah Al-‘Alaq.
The Purpose of Revelation:
The purpose of revelation or education is to gain knowledge of something. "Dariya" in language means intention and deliberate pursuit of something. This pursuit is not exclusive to anyone but is available to all, male and female.
From the above, we can say that revelation is itself receiving knowledge and information from God through signals and symbols that compress into letters forming words. "That is from what your Lord has revealed to you of wisdom. And do not associate with Allah another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished" [Al-Isra 39].
"We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that there is no deity except Me, so worship Me (25). And they say, 'The Most Merciful has taken a son.' Exalted is He; rather, they are [but] honored servants (26). They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command (27)" [Al-Anbiya 25-27]. The main goal of revelation is to guide humanity to God alone, and to bring them from darkness to light by reminding them of symbols that return them to their origin.
Stages of Revelation:
Allah says: "Ha, Meem (1). By the clear Book (2). Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand (3)" [Az-Zukhruf 1-3]. And also in Surah Maryam: "Kaaf Ha Ya 'Ayn Saad (1). [This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah (2). When he called to his Lord a private supplication (3), He said, 'My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy (4)" [Maryam 1-4]. "So he came out to his people from the sanctuary and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] morning and evening" [Maryam 11]. By reviewing these verses, we find that revelation was first a symbol, then a letter, and then it was derived into the tongue or language.
Revelation and the Divine Code:
We begin with the following verse: "And He taught Adam the names—all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, 'Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful'" [Al-Baqarah 31]. Adam here is the complete symbol, while the universe is symbolic of the names. Adam carries the divine code or symbol and interacts with the universe by deconstructing and reconstructing it. The duality of deconstruction and reconstruction is the full understanding of the symbol. The wisdom of all names lies in understanding the code, and the goal of this understanding is to return to the first symbol by following the deconstruction of symbols and then reconstructing them.
To simplify the matter, let's take the following example: I say to you "At-Tawwab" (The Acceptor of Repentance). "At-Tawwab" here is a name and a symbol of a divine action. When you err and realize that you have wronged yourself, you repent, meaning you return to the name or symbol that God placed in you so that you do not lose the way. Every name is a code for returning to the correct divine path.
The Divine Code and Guidance:
Allah Almighty says: "And when your Lord took from the children of Adam—from their loins—their descendants and made them testify of themselves, 'Am I not your Lord?' They said, 'Yes, we have testified,' lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, 'Indeed, we were of this unaware' (172). Or lest you say, 'It was only that our forefathers associated [others in worship] before, and we were but descendants after them. Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done?' (173). And thus do We explain in detail the verses, and perhaps they will return (174)" [Al-A’raf 172-174].
Symbolization is innate, and it is the readiness of every individual to understand the truth, no matter their circumstances. It follows the verse where Allah taught Adam the names of all things, meaning that within you is the symbol and the capacity to understand the symbols and signs that lead to the knowledge that there is a Lord.
