Unconscious Drives in Society: Root Chakra, Sexuality, and Their Impact on the Individual and Society

Societies have always strived to elevate human consciousness and achieve salvation and enlightenment. The first obstacle they encounter is the sexual instinct, which governs other instincts within the sphere of the unconscious. One manifestation of the dominance of unconscious drives in societies is a general sense of closure within the community and its systems. This energy of closure contrasts with the absence of the energy of openness, which is represented by the feminine, due to its repression and the limitation of its role. Therefore, we can use the manifestations of the oppression of women and the restrictions placed on them in a society as a measure of that society's level of closure.

In such societies, the unconscious drive is the sexual instinct, with issues in how it is managed. The woman here is seen as a stimulus for this drive, leading to the establishment of systems and laws aimed at concealing and keeping her out of sight as a preventive measure to control the dominance of the sexual instinct in society. This is evident in past civilizations, whose influence continues today, as they advocated covering women and keeping them at home to hide and distance them from social life under the pretext of preserving society and its advancement. In doing so, they completely nullify her conscious human existence, viewing her solely as a body. They accepted her physical form for the benefits it provided them but rejected her as a conscious being with a mind, heart, and spirit, which grant her the freedom and conscious will necessary to play her role in life.

Sexual Repression and Its Impact on Society

Every form of sexual repression leads to a distortion of sexual desires. Thus, extreme solutions that deviate from the call for harmony and balance between the male and female poles in dealing with sexual instincts have resulted in societal disorder and the emergence of counterproductive outcomes. This has led to a state of closure, making society a slave to its traditions and customs, rejecting any thought from outside its circle, and blindly venerating its heritage, even if it harms itself.

Moreover, this rejection of the other and the attempt to suppress the need for them has led to an unconscious, constant pursuit to reach them. This has produced the phenomenon of debauchery, which here refers to the fulfillment of sexual desires outside the societal framework, as such a society has a contradiction between its outward appearance and its inner reality.

Another similar issue arises: sexual repression, which leads to actions aimed at erasing the existence of the other. This is an unsound and criminal act. Studies indicate that most criminal behaviors are the result of distortions in sexual instincts. The inability of criminals to understand the mechanisms of sexual desire and how to manage them has trapped them in a very low level of consciousness, causing them to lose conscious control over themselves. In turn, the unconscious takes over as the dominant force, placing them on an animalistic level driven by unconscious instincts. The absence of their awareness is reflected in their actions in the form of violence, sadism, or rejection of others. Every individual with an issue in their sexual instinct seeks to eliminate the other, and there are many psychological patterns linked to sexual disorders.
